Any insight and advice is greatly appreciated. What I'm hoping is that some of you can give you advice on how badly this choke is threaded and what I should do. I don't want to send them this barrel and get one back that might be worse off. The common trend I see for Remington customer service is you can send something back and receive something worse in return. I have not gotten a chance to pattern the gun yet but the small amount I shot it it seemed to hit my targets with ease. My understanding is sometimes with these small choke defects the POA can still be dead on, other times it can be way off. Here is the best pictures I could get.Īfter reading online it appears that whatever this issue is seem to be common. The lip is enough that if i run a straw or something down the barrel its enough that whatever im putting in there gets caught on the lip instead of sliding over and down the barrel, if that makes sense to you. ALso when threading the choke in one can feel a stiff point in the threading, meaning half of the rotation is smooth until you hit a "bump"in the threading. I have thrown out it being the choke itself because I have tried several other chokes with the same result. In other words, there is a small lip that protrudes at the bottom rim of the choke instead of being perfectly flush and even like the one side is. Wrong.ĪFter an examination I have discovered that choke sits, for lack of a better term, crooked or misaligned by a small amount when fully screwed into the barrel. After getting that issue resolved I figured I was in the clear. Remington spends all this time and money on the "design of the future", charge customers over $1300 and they can't figure out that the mag spring has too much tension? They certainly don't instill much confidence. One should not have to resort to an aftermarket part for a weapon to function properly. Now this alone was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. Following the advise of others I replaced it with a Nordic spring cut to 12 inches past the end of the tube. After some researching I discovered that the issue was the magazine spring. The first issue I encountered is with a fully loaded mag tube the gun would not drop a shell onto the carrier.

It's a shame it has to be plagued with QA problems, and from reading around on the web I know I'm not alone. Now let me say that ergonomics wise and shooting wise I love this gun on so many levels. Several weeks ago I purchased a brand new in box Versa Max Tactical from a big box store. That aside, allow me to get to the issue here.

This very well may be my last Remington purchase. Being a long time Remington customer I have to say that my patience with this company's quality control is wearing quite thin.
