I wouldn't use any black or light magic on a mage anyway, because I don't like these kinds of magic on a main character. Only brutallity is maybe problematic in my opinion, because I can't get the health boost from the tank tree with this character setup.īut my idea was basically to go all in into one tree alone. I could just go into the elemental tree and put my leftover points into leadership.Īnd as an archer I could take the autoattack bonus from brutallity and max out archery. The perk from light magic should give you just 0,3/sec more or something like that, doesn't it? while having a good focus regen due to the int/willpower. Why? I could put everything into intelligence and willpower, get my fireballs and do a reasonable amount of damage. If you went with a three split you would run into attribute starvation seeing as those archetypes tend to use attributes that differ from each other.Ī mage definitely wants focus regen or leech though, not sure how a mage could be "magey" w/o it. does a mage need a little bit of focus regeneration or leech? Not sure. All I know is that an archer works well with the damage bonus from brutallity. but I'm not sure if a 100% elemental mage would work fine in this game. This way I could basically switch classes whenever I like. Originally posted by Gray Fox:Yeah, I already thought about creating a character that's specced into elemental magic, brutallity and archery. so I really don't know if they are a game changer for melees or not, or if the ones archers get are usefull at all. These hidden spells could change everything, but I couldn't google them so far. but I have no idea if archers or melees get anything usefull as well.

Mages get some awesome (hidden) spells later on, at least according to some screenshots someone posted here yesterday (meteor strikes!). However: I don't know about later specializations of non-magic users. Ranged dps however can just shoot at the greatest threats from a far. and having him try and walk to those enemies (casters for example) just gets him killed or damaged. Those enemies you want to attack are usually not the ones right in front of your melee. There is also a huge issue with the positioning of melee characters. I think a ranged hero would be best, just because he can deal damage without having to worrie about him getting stuck between the own troops. and because they tend to run into their dead if you stop micromanaging them for a second.

Because of her I respecced to a warrior, but I feel melee characters are not so effective in bigger fights due to the fact that they tend to get stuck between my troops. I've started with an archer, only to find an interesting companion who was an archer herself.
